Homes England is where you'll find it all. The people who believe in you.
The confidence to shine. And the chance to build a career that matters to you.
As the government's housing and regeneration agency we believe that affordable, quality homes in well-designed places are key to improving people's lives. We make this happen by using our powers, expertise, land, capital, and influence to bring both investment to communities and get more quality homes built.
Join us as a graduate and you will have the chance to play a pivotal role in key areas of the organisation, enabling you to build on both your technical skill set and interpersonal development.
We will ensure that you have the right resources, training and environment to succeed. This allows you to develop the skills and experience you need to follow your desired career path.
The projects you'll experience, from technical delivery through to engaging with partners and seeing how a large government agency works, will help you lay the foundations of a great career.
We want our workforce to reflect the diverse communities we work with. And we're keen to hear from people from all backgrounds who share our values and believe in our mission.
Our aspiration is that all colleagues who join, see Homes England as a place where they can flourish both personally and professionally. While all applications for our 2024-26 graduate programme are assessed on quality and skills, we particularly encourage those who are underrepresented in our workforce to apply.
This includes individuals who are Black, Asian or have multiple ethnicities; those who have disabilities or long-term health conditions; those who are neurodivergent; females or non-binary individuals and also those from a lower socio-economic background.
Whatever experiences you've gained so far, this is a place where you'll get support, learn valuable new skills and build a strong foundation for your future. And, while you're building a rewarding career, surrounded by people who want to help you grow and succeed, you'll be doing something really important by shaping communities and changing lives.
We've created a two-year programme that empowers you to make a difference from day one. Your first placement will include onboarding and induction activities to bring you up to speed. As you progress through the programme, we'll continue to encourage and support you.
You'll learn from our talented professionals, developing the skills that become a cornerstone for your career. Along the way, you'll be able to take advantage of mentoring, secondments and development initiatives.
You'll also enjoy a real sense of community, as you get to know other graduates who are part of your cohort. Here, you'll build the friendships and network that help your career get off to a great start. You will build your knowledge and experience as you complete a minimum of four six-month placements with real impact within your programme.
We'll tailor your support to suit your individual learning and development needs, making the necessary adjustments to hone your technical skills and also skills in strategic planning, project and stakeholder management, diversity of thought and change agility.
At every step, you'll be supported by your placement manager, a graduate buddy and/or a coach and mentor should you need them. They'll help you take ownership of your learning, development and leadership skills.
We'll give you ownership of projects and ask you to find new ways to improve how we work. You'll also embark on our Leadership Business Challenge as part of your development, pitching new ideas for change in Homes England.
In your final nine months, we'll support your application for a permanent role that aligns with your career goals. If successful you can choose to complete the rest of the graduate programme or move into a new role at Homes England in the last six months of the programme.
You'll need to have a degree or equivalent (for example, a Level 6 NVQ). The subject is dependent on the profession that you are applying to. We're also looking for your motivations. We want to get to know you as a person and see if we share the same values. This process allows you to show us your best qualities, regardless of your level of experience so far.
Join us at one of our sessions, where we aim to share guidance and practical tips to give you the confidence to apply to our Graduate Programme and provide you with a deeper understanding of the Homes England culture.
These sessions are open to everyone and as part of our unwavering commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, our goal is to enhance representation and foster an environment where everyone is included, supported, valued, and feels a sense of belonging, irrespective of their background, experience, or identity.
By joining this session, you'll have the opportunity to connect with colleagues including previous and current graduates and gain valuable perspectives on our inclusive culture. Please note that your attendance is purely optional and independent of the application process; it will not influence any future application decisions.
We look forward to welcoming you and sharing more about the culture and community that define Homes England.
The sessions will be held via Microsoft Teams on 21st February 2024 12pm-1pm and 6th March 2024 12pm-1pm, if you are interested in attending please email RecruitmentInfo@homesengland.gov.uk and let us know which session you would like to attend.
