A bit about the role...

This role sits within the Cambridge Growth Company (CGC), a subsidiary of Homes England. The CGC is a small but growing cross-disciplinary team of professionals with a focus on supporting the Government’s ambition for Cambridge.

The Business Support Officer provides efficient and proactive administrative support. You will help to facilitate the daily functions and operations, acting as a first point of contact for the team. You will support a dedicated team with the coordination of corporate tasks that relate to activities such as information management, recruitment and induction.

You will also coordinate the daily affairs of the team’s logistical needs in event planning, meetings and team communication, including supporting the smooth delivery of key events and meetings across Greater Cambridge.

A bit about you…

You'll be comfortable supporting multiple stakeholders with complex administrative tasks, aiming to resolve these quickly and efficiently. You will also be responsible for facilitating and servicing meetings and being a point of contact. You will be proficient in providing support services with excellent organisational, communication and digital skills, with the ability to work at pace with multiple priorities.

Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn’t always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the CGC’s objectives. You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade.

As an experienced administrator you’ll understand how to manage colleagues and be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way.

You will be able to work calmly and effectively when under pressure and against upcoming deadlines. You will have a positive can-do attitude and will be proactive in identifying emerging challenges and providing solutions. You will be articulate, dynamic, energetic and self-motivated.

As a subsidiary of Homes England, all roles within the CGC will be aligned to Homes England’s expected behaviours and values.

Who are we?

Who is the Cambridge Growth Company?

In April 2024 Homes England was commissioned to work with MHCLG officials to establish an incorporated growth company to act as an interim delivery body for the Secretary of State’s ambitions for Cambridge – this is the Cambridge Growth Company (CGC), a subsidiary of Homes England. The growth company was incorporated on 15th May 2024 is a stepping stone to a potential long-term delivery vehicle.

The CGC works with local government to establish the best long-term business case to fund infrastructural improvements — water supplies, the transport network, education, health, and the natural environment, ensuring that as much as possible is delivered from the increase in the land value of the sites to be developed.

Homes England: The Housing and Regeneration Agency

We believe that affordable, quality homes in well-designed places are key to improving people’s lives. As the government’s housing and regeneration agency, we create thriving new places and transform urban areas, combining the full breadth of our powers, expertise, land, capital and influence to bring investment to communities and get more homes built.

How? We form long-term partnerships that bridge the gap between the public and private sector to meet local needs and aspirations. We use our influence to champion the creation of sustainable homes, communities and places that are brilliantly designed for the people that live there now, and in the future. And we use our funding and support to build a more resilient, diverse and innovative housing sector, helping new entrants in the market, encouraging modern methods of construction and design, and promoting the utmost attention to building safety.

Together with our partners, we’re accelerating the pace of house building, remediation and regeneration across the country, as we seek to deliver ever more affordable homes in places people are proud to call home for generations to come.
