We are looking for talented people with housing and regeneration experience to join our professional, dynamic and experienced team in the North led by our Regional Director, Duncan Inglis. You will be joining a growing team who are driving forward the Homes England housing and regeneration mission.
Based in the Homes England Newcastle office you will be supported by our growing team of multi-disciplinary professionals led by our Assistant Director, Marie Kiddell. We act as the front door to Homes England for our partners, working with Combined Authorities, Local Authorities and private sector partners to build pipelines of investment ready housing growth and regeneration projects.
This is a rare chance to shape the future delivery of often complex and interesting sites in the North of England in a fast growing, national organisation with real social purpose.
MPP is a multidisciplinary team with a remit to identify, lead on, and provide support to, large-scale, complex and innovative projects that require multiple interventions, cross-government and cross discipline working. The team will work closely with Homes England colleagues and other Government Departments to provide a bridge between policy, strategy and delivery. By forming a clear understanding of the strategic context and priorities surrounding a particular project at the pre - development stage and by drawing on expertise and relationships, the team will develop robust, large-scale housing strategies that will drive market change and unlock delivery.
Working in the Northern Markets. Partners and Places (MPP) team you will play a critical role in the future delivery of a portfolio of large-scale, complex regeneration projects. Based in our Newcastle or Leeds office you will have the chance to be involved in, and shape, projects that achieve transformative Urban Regeneration and housing growth throughout the North of England such as Forth Yards in Newcastle.
You’ll act as part of the ‘front door’ to Homes England for our partners, working with Combined Authorities, Local Authorities and private sector partners to build pipelines of investment ready housing growth and regeneration projects. In certain areas, such as the North East you’ll be part of our Strategic Place Partnerships with those places, where we have focussed working together around key priorities for those places.
This role is dependant on engagement with external partners, therefore, you will need to have the ability to travel within the region as and when is required for the role.
You will lead a number of your own projects and use your technical and commercial expertise to provide strategic and expert advice in the field across a range of property related issues including infrastructure and development, delivery strategies, land assembly, delivery models and funding mechanisms. Familiarity with the business case process and experience in engaging with government departments on major strategic projects will also be valued.
The role requires you to work on projects across the north of England within multi-functional teams and an ability to work collaboratively with others is key to success in this role.
Whilst our day job is to deliver first class customer service to our stakeholders, you will be used to ‘spinning several plates’ at once and work at pace through a range of different tasks and priorities to deliver on competing responsibilities whilst looking for ways to improve and innovate.
You’ll will be educated to a degree level, desirably with a recognised professional qualification, for example RTPI/RICS and/or have project management experience or experience in engineering, urban regeneration or in finance and have the skills and ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. You will possess expert real estate, commercial and development knowledge.
Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn’t always easy. You will need to be resilient and comfortable managing multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders at a senior level and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do. You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade.
You will have excellent communication skills with experience of presenting and delivering messages in a clear, concise, and confident manner which engages audiences and achieves the desired outcomes and you’ll understand how to manage colleagues and be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way.
