The Markets Partners & Places (MPP) North Team is looking for a Project Manager to join our experienced team. We do this by supporting the coordination and delivery of complex, large-scale new settlement and regeneration projects. We work collaboratively with local authorities, combined authorities, central Government and leading private sector partners. This is an exciting role offering the opportunity to participate in the region’s most transformational projects and work in partnership to meet housing need.
The team work on long term projects requiring complex or multiple interventions to unlock and drive housing delivery forward. We also coordinate a range of interventions offered by Homes England meaning you will be at the heart of the Agency’s ability to support housing and regeneration, including through loan finance. We coordinate partnerships between the public and private sectors to bring the required mix of capital, land, and delivery expertise to each project.
In line with our place-based working practices, we focus on locations where housing delivery is most needed to address acute social challenges including affordability, housing supply and tenure mix. This role is dependant on engagement with external partners, therefore, you will need to have the ability to travel within the region as and when is required for the role.
We are looking for someone to join our Team who understands and is passionate about the delivery of quality homes, placemaking and regeneration and wants to work in an inclusive, supportive and driven team. You will be motivated by the transformative impact of placemaking and understand the ability of a development led response to tackle social deprivation and economic underperformance.
You’ll understand the development delivery process and have experience of working in development, preferably in the land assembly, design, planning, funding or delivery stage, in either the public or private sector. You’ll understand the importance of building and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners to foster collaborative, results driven working.
You’ll have the ability to learn quickly on complex projects, undertake analysis and input into reports for internal and external readership. You’ll have worked in environments and on projects where attention to detail is of paramount importance.
This role is a hybrid position and requires presence in our Leeds or Newcastle office 50% of your time per week to meet the needs of the role. You will also be required to travel across the region to meet with partners.
Key Skills & Experience
- Planning, Development or Housing Experience - Experience of working on development or complex projects, with an understanding of the factors that drive development, planning and regeneration.
- Relationship Management – Effectively managing internal and external professional relationships is a core activity of the role, to act as a conduit between Homes England and external partners and manage internal multi-functional teams to lead or support problem solving and interventions.
- Report Writing – preparing reports for internal and external readership is a core part of the role. The reports produced by our team may include briefing papers for our CEO, Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) Secretary of State, Project Concept papers for our internal decision-making boards and Full Business, MHCLG and HM Treasury.
Essential criteria:
- Project and programme management experience, ideally across complex projects.
- degree level qualification or equivalent experience as a: Chartered Surveyor (MRICS), Town Planner (RTPI), Engineer, Urban Regeneration Specialist or in Development Finance.
