A bit about the role...

There couldn’t be a better time to work in Affordable Housing at Homes England following the biggest settlement announced as part of the Spending Review of a 10 year £39bn Social and Affordable Homes Programme.

You will be part of the team working closely with government, local leaders and partners across the sector to deliver an ambitious affordable housing programme. We are looking for individuals excited and motivated by the opportunity to shape delivery, especially as we implement our regional and place-based operating model.

A permanent vacancy has arisen in the new South Regional Delivery Directorate. This Directorate covers the diverse area from Cornwall to Kent, the southern home counties around London  and Gloucester. As part of the regional Affordable Housing Growth Team, you will have a unique opportunity to work with key stakeholders and a range of internal teams to maximise affordable housing delivery across the South. The Growth Manager, working closely with the Senior Growth Manager, plays a critical role in developing the pipeline and bringing new business into the Social and Affordable Homes Programme. You will ensure a rigorous, consistent and high-quality approach to the assessment and recommendations of funding applications to the Programme

This is a rare chance to shape the future of affordable housing delivery, working in a fast-paced organisation with real social purpose. You will be joining our highly experienced local team who are committed to making positive change in people’s lives through collaboration and adopting an inclusive culture to deliver high-quality, affordable homes. The role will have a wide range of projects to get involved with, ranging from large urban regeneration to smaller, bespoke community-led schemes. The work is varied and challenging.

A bit about you…

You should excel at partnership working and collaboration, be an excellent communicator, have a good eye for detail and understand affordable housing funding models and delivery mechanisms.

It is essential that you can work collaboratively and develop effective relationships both internally and externally, work within a political environment and adapt your style to maximise contributions from a diverse range of partners.

You will need to demonstrate knowledge of the affordable housing sector, understanding of development and viability appraisals as well as regional and local housing markets. Assessing proposals for funding is a critical part of this role.

As an experienced professional, you’ll be able to work effectively across multifunctional teams and demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative and inclusive way.

Who are we?

Homes England: The Housing and Regeneration Agency

We believe that affordable, quality homes in well-designed places are key to improving people’s lives. As the government’s housing and regeneration agency, we create thriving new places and transform urban areas, combining the full breadth of our powers, expertise, land, capital and influence to bring investment to communities and get more homes built.

How? We form long-term partnerships that bridge the gap between the public and private sector to meet local needs and aspirations. We use our influence to champion the creation of sustainable homes, communities and places that are brilliantly designed for the people that live there now, and in the future. And we use our funding and support to build a more resilient, diverse and innovative housing sector, helping new entrants in the market, encouraging modern methods of construction and design, and promoting the utmost attention to building safety.

Together with our partners, we’re accelerating the pace of house building, remediation and regeneration across the country, as we seek to deliver ever more affordable homes in places people are proud to call home for generations to come.
